This was the first show in the new Katarameno Syndromo and I dare to say that it was a fuckin' blast! The show space kicks ass,it's a small basement with great punk decoration,great sound and as always it's perfect for small sweaty punk shows like this one! Good luck with your next shows there punx!
On to the show now,Aas played first,I haven't seen them for awhile and their set blew me away,maybe the sound was better compared to their previous shows or they just got better! I don't know and I don't give a fuck! They rocked! Great and simple punk rock'n'roll vibes that get you in a dancing mood from the first beat!
Next were Screaming Fly whom I've never heard before but they managed to get me going and wanting for more,rock'n'roll mixed with psychedelic rock and lots of other stuff! Hope to see them again soon.
Cheap Time from the U.S delivered some pop-garage punk and got everyone dancing. No slow/mid tempo pop-shit-punk here! Fast and crazy garage punk like the Mummies and The Queers. I want more!!!
Cheers to everyone attending this show and once again good luck in the future,It's very refreshing to get a new show space in this hellhole called Athens!

Schwartz and Anger,Multi Culti,Timetrap,Javaspa,Crescendo,Kalazaar @ Villa Amalias squat

This was the squats' first show in almost a year since the attack by fascists which caused some heavy damage on the building,fortunately everything turned out great and most of the damages are now fixed! There was some really great job done! This show was for the squats' 19th birthday by the way.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to see all the bands cause of the large attendance (the show space was packed!) and partly because I was tired being there 4-5 hours before the show starts,so I just saw my good friends SchwartzandAnger who were the first band on stage.Powerfull and energetic as always! Fast,hard-hitting crust/grind with some dose of swedish death metal! Fuckin' A!
We (Kalazaar) played last,around 3 o'clock after midnight,it was one of our best shows so far and for that we have to thank all of our friends dancing and throwing (mostly half full) beer cans at us!
Well that's it! I 'd like to apologize to the rest of the bands from the show not reviewed here,sorry guys but I was too tired to stay and watch all the bands! I promise I'll make up to it :)

Plague Mass,Endsight,Censored Sound,Xlos @ ANClub,Athens

XlosI found out about this show just one day before it take place and I was curious to check Plague Mass from Austria,plus I got to see some great greek bands I haven't checked for a while and guess what? It kicked ass!!! First were Xlos,a local punk/hc band with some ska thrown in (personally I hate mixing ska with punk except some bands that do it very well like SkaP or Less Than Jake!),anyway they were good until the ska-punk songs came in! Cesnored Sound had a really great and energetic set,they play old-school sxe hc (although the members are not sxe as far as I know,but who gives a fuck!),they reminded me of Youth Of Today and Judge but they manage not to be just another hc revival band by adding great guitar leads. Next were Endsight (former For What It's Worth),I liked their old songs,which they still play live,and I was curious about their new line-up,turned out to be far more superior! Fast,hard-hitting,in-your-fuckin'-face metalic hc!!! And by metalic I don't mean metal-shit-core! More in the vein of Darkest Hour's Mark of the Judas lp mixed with good '90's hc like Strife! Keep it up guys!

Plague Mass stepped on the stage next and delivered some great new-school hc mixed with From Ashes Rise-style crust,their set seemed sort though and to say the truth it was the crowds' fault 'cause most of them left when Ensign finished their set! What the fuck people?! Anyway Plague Mass were really great and they have their hearts in the right place,they dedicated the whole set to Alex Grigoropoulos (R.I.P) and to the people who took part in the December riots following Alex's murder.Definetely a band I'd like to watch again under better conditions!
Unforunatelly I only took pics from Xlos and Plague Mass because I had no batteries in my camera! (for once again!).Yeah,I know..I'm a fuck up!

So here's the review for this show,it took a lot of time 'cause I had lots of things to take care of first (I moved to a new place and still try to get my shit together).
Anyways this show kicked major ass! It was great at all aspects, great sound,great crowd and plus it was a benefit gig for the prisoners of the December riots in Greece.
First band was Kalazaar,it was our best show so far and we all enjoyed it,well besides our drummer who was ill but still managed to deliver!
Next were Rivals!,for those of you who don't know,Rivals! come from the ashes of xFor No Reasonx,a great new sxe old-school hardcore band with the right spirit!
The next band was Insuiciety from Berlin (actually all members are from Poland but reside in Berlin for some years),they were fuckin' awesome at stage to say the least! Sludge/crust attack with some dark melodies that fit great.
Infekcja took over the stage next and destroyed our ears with their grinding harshness these Polish fucks deliver for over a decade!
Last were D.A.T,it's a new band and they play crusty punk hc,well by the time they played I was too drunk to pay attention,but from what I heard they were nice! Hopefully I'll pay more attention next time!

Benefit/solidarity live for the prisoners of the December riots In Greece.

After the December riots and in a critical time for the greek anarchist/anti-authoritarian movement,we decided to put up a diy punk concert to help financialy the prisoners at the old EMI record factory in Athens.The place is abandoned for years and it was a great opportunity to set up a show there because it served another cause,our despise for the music industry!
At the morning of the 31st of January we got in the building and started to clean up the floor and set up a stage.It should be noted that at the same day there was a fascist meeting in the center of Athens called by an extreme right wing organization,Xrisi Avgi (Golden Dawn),also at the morning there was also a demonstration called by anarchists so not a lot of people could be with us from the start at the EMI factory for helping and "guarding" the place.Most people were at the demonstration or at an anti-fascist meeting.However everything turned out ok,no cops or fascists showed up to the concert.
We were expecting about 300 people to show up and we were worried if the money collected from the show were enough! The speakers and p.a we rented costed 500 euros and the alcohol costed 250 euros,so we had spend a lot of money already! We were suprised when we figured out that after the show we had more than 1100 euros and about 400 people attended! Everything turned out really great!
About the show now,the bands that played were Asfyxia,Ysteria and Kalazaar.I play in Kalazaar so I'm not the one to say if the people liked our music or what we had to say (although I saw a lot of people enjoying our set!),by the way we play old-school anarcho-punk with some d-beat influences! Ysteria,a band from Alexandroupoli (north greece,close to the border with Turkey) played a really great set,I haven't seen them live for some years and was suprised to find out they're even better on stage than on the cd! They play old-school punk rock with fast songs and sing-alongs.The last band,Asfyxia,got the crowd going with their heavy old-school crust punk,they were out of tune sometimes because they hadn't a rehearsal for a long time but they were great nevertheless.
After the show a party started with some punk and metal music,at that time everyone had a smile on their faces and was having a good time.
All the money collected were placed in a bank account for the prisoners.
It was the first live we set as Athens Anarchopunk collective and I hope more will follow!

Solidarity/benefit show for the prisoners of the December riots

Solidarity/benefit show for the prisoned people of the December riots in Greece. There will also be a benefit compilation cd-r from the three bands playing the show (Asfyxia,Ysteria and Kalazaar). All the money gathered will be send to the prisoners for their court expenses as well as their daily needs inside the prison. The show takes place in the old EMI/Columbia record factory....at the ruins of the music industry!
